Brian Varela was a Democratic candidate for the U.S. House in New Jersey's 7th Congressional District in 2026. He lost the June 2, 2026 Democratic primary, finishing third with 8,500 votes (18.2%). A small business owner, he previously ran for New Jersey's 8th Congressional District in 2022 but withdrew from that race. Varela earned a bachelor's degree from Kean University in 2011 and a graduate degree from the University of North Carolina in 2020.
