Bernie Moreno is an American politician and businessman who has served as the junior United States Senator from Ohio since January 3, 2025. A Republican, he was born Bernardo Francisco Moreno Mejía in Bogotá, Colombia, on February 14, 1967, and immigrated with his family to Florida as a child. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor's degree in business administration and later moved to Ohio, where he owned car dealerships in the Greater Cleveland area and worked in blockchain technology. In the 2024 election, he defeated Democratic incumbent Sherrod Brown, becoming the first Hispanic American senator from Ohio.
