Becca Balint is the U.S. Representative for Vermont's at-large congressional district, a seat she has held since January 3, 2023, and is the 2026 Democratic nominee for re-election to the same seat. Born in Heidelberg, Germany, in 1968 and raised in Peekskill, New York, she earned a B.A. from Smith College, a Master of Education from Harvard University, and a Master of Arts in history from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Before running for office she worked as a middle-school history teacher and a rock-climbing instructor. She served in the Vermont Senate from 2015 to 2023, including as majority leader (2017–2021) and as president pro tempore (2021–2023).
