Angus S. King Jr. is an Independent U.S. Senator from Maine, sworn into office in January 2013 after winning the 2012 Senate election. He previously served two terms as the 72nd Governor of Maine from 1995 to 2003. King earned a bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College in 1966 and a law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1969, and he worked as a lawyer and energy company owner before entering public office.
