André Carson, a Democrat, has represented Indiana's 7th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2008. Born in Indianapolis in 1974, he graduated from Arsenal Technical High School, earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice management from Concordia University-Wisconsin, and a master's in business management from Indiana Wesleyan University. Before Congress, he worked in law enforcement and for the Indiana Department of Homeland Security's counterterrorism and counterintelligence division, and served on the Indianapolis City-County Council from 2007 to 2008.
