Amy Klobuchar (born 1960) grew up in Plymouth, Minnesota, and earned a B.A. magna cum laude from Yale University in 1982 and a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School in 1985. Before entering politics she was a partner at the law firms Dorsey & Whitney and Gray Plant Mooty. She served as Hennepin County attorney from 1998 to 2006. First elected to the U.S. Senate from Minnesota in 2006, she was re-elected in 2012, 2018, and 2024, and is running for re-election in 2026.
